2008 · The Bushwick Starr
The Bird
Built from Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull, The Bird filters the play’s artists, lovers, and families through an international ensemble and a contemporary performance vocabulary. The show was developed during a residency in Northern Greece in March and April of 2008, and the piece made its US premiere at the Bushwick Starr on October 1st 2008. The show is a stripped-down, two-actor version of The Seagull that explores the elegant symmetry of Chekhov’s classic. Using the play as a prism, the performance becomes an intimate look at theater, love, and loss in the modern age.
